Industrial Loft Style with Joss and Main

Industrial Loft Style with Joss and Main

I have always had an obsession with rust, heavy iron with layers of flaking paint and patches of glorious earthy rust shining through. However, as lovely as rusty objects are at bringing in character to your home, they are not always practical! Industrial loft style is all about textures, taking its design cue from old workshops, sheds, laboratories and warehouses.

The latest design event from Joss and Main UK features a wonderful collection of new furniture and decorative home pieces that brings together the textures and elements of loft style without the impractical need to vacuum paint flakes out of your carpet on a regular basis.

The backdrop for Loft Style is often a very simple rustic finish, brick and stone walls are the ideal but monochrome paint finishes with hints of grey work well. Loft Style is most definitely not about patterned wallpapers but there are some great ideas out there that include weatherboarding, tin plate, marble and even rusty metals!! Wahoo! The aesthetic here is not glam, it’s easy to live with and is often quite masculine but it makes a great contrast for those more colourful and homely pieces that you have.
